The presentation evening for the Waterloo Wind Farm community grants took place at the Waterloo District War Memorial Hall on Monday, September 23. Around 40 attendees gathered to enjoy a supper while honouring and celebrating the recipients of the grants.

A committee of 3 local community members assessed the applications. Their insights and recommendations ensure Waterloo Wind Farm continue to support initiatives that provide the greatest benefit to the community. The committee was notably impressed by the quality of the applications submitted and with so many worthy applicants, it was a difficult decision. Of the 21 applications, a total of 11 organisations received a share of $30,299.46 in funding from the 2024 Waterloo Wind Farm Community Grants Program, based on their positive impact and contribution to the local community.

The successful recipients cover a diverse array of local initiatives, including essential repairs and upgrades, support services for retirees, the rehabilitation of a grassland habitat that supports a population of Pygmy Bluetongue lizards, the construction of a barbecue trailer for fundraising and community events, outdoor furniture for a community garden, quilt-making activities for underprivileged communities, and the development of a website for a learner driver mentor program.
